Why Attracting Consistent, High-Quality Leads Feels Difficult for Small Business Owners

If you’re a small business owner, you’ve probably faced the feast or famine cycle of lead generation.

One month you’re swamped with new enquiries, the following month you might be staring at an empty inbox. Lead generation can be very frustrating and leave you feeling on the back foot rather than ahead and confidently growing your business.

Many small businesses rely on a patchwork of marketing tactics such as:

  • Scattered social media

  • Google Ads with no clear strategy

  • A website that doesn’t contain pain free lead generation

This can lead to inconsistent results and wasted budgets.

Worse still, when leads do come in, they’re not always the right fit. Low-quality prospects who don’t convert or don’t value your offer are taking up your time.

You’re not alone in this.

It’s one of the most common and costly challenges small businesses face.

How to Improve It

I help small business owners to build a repeatable system for attracting high-quality leads, ones that convert and fuel sustainable growth.

Taking these steps will help you to attract and convert enquiries from your target audience.

  1. First establish who your target market is. If you're not sure it will be difficult to gain inbound leads from the buyers you want.

  2. Be specific on the target market eg: Small Businesses with 1-10 employees based in the South West or, Women between 30-50yrs with an interest in fitness. Being clear on your target market means you can write with them in mind and explain how you will help them.

  3. Add clear calls to action to your website and social media, preferably forms that people can fill in within a few seconds eg: name and email address.

  4. Make sure the forms are submitted to you and that you get an alert when someone completes it.

  5. Call the interested person and find out how you can help them.

  6. Lots of CRMs have FREE plans such as Zoho and HubSpot, use these to manage your leads and email.

How to Add Multiple Photos or Graphics as a Carousel on LinkedIn

I often see LinkedIn posts with several photos added without using this quick and easy tool!

If you're adding multiple photos or graphics they will show up in a haphazard arrangement where you mostly see the first image and the others are shown as thumbnails.

This is a better way!

To upload them as a neat carousel slider, save them as a PDF then, using the 'add a document' feature create a carousel that people can swipe through.

This has several advantages besides looking better!

  • Carousels have been shown to have higher engagement on LinkedIn and other platforms and they are great for storytelling as you can add multiple slides.

  • You have the opportunity to reinforce your brand with consistent design

  • Make sure you include a 'hook' early on to engage people

  • Don't use more than one message per slide to keep the layout clean and simple

  • Always add a clear call to action at the end
